Dan Wald

Associate Partner

Dan brings a true passion for advertising to every client engagement he undertakes. He has seen the great, the good, the bad and the ugly in client/agency relationships and has a deep understanding of how to make things work. He has been involved in hundreds of reviews across multiple industries and channels and has a true insider’s knowledge of every step of the agency review process. He understands first-hand what takes place on the agency side and greatly respects the effort that a review involves for both client and agency.

A partial list of prominent national and multi-national clients with whom Dan has worked includes: McDonald’s, Kraft, Unilever, Kimberly Clark, Merck, Citibank, Westinghouse, SAP, The Economist, Lufthansa, NBC Universal, Disney, Sears, Sprint, Boost Mobile, and Reckitt Benckiser, among numerous others.

Dan has worked at agencies large and small, independent and networked and in holding company roles. He has spent time in WPP, IPG, and Publicis. He knows how challenging it is to manage new business, transition it, and maintain it. He has a deep knowledge of agency pricing models and what is fair for both client and agency.

In addition to expertise in through the line, Dan is one of the few practitioners who knows mobile, promotion and sponsorship. Dan also knows what it takes to deliver on the digital front – from application and website development, through e-commerce, display, social, mobile, and search. He can expertly guide client needs assessment against agency capabilities.

Prior to joining forces with Joanne, Dan worked as Chief Growth Officer for Brunner, and prior to that as SVP of New Business for Publicis Kaplan Thaler in New York. He started his career on the client side at Citibank in the electronic banking unit and at Barnes & Noble in promotions, events and the bn.com website.

Dan is not one to ever sit still. Along with Joanne he initiated a recent survey on Rethinking the Agency Review Process in order to seek out more innovative ways to conduct reviews.

Dan loves to speak at conferences and especially at colleges and universities and greatly enjoys mentoring students and recent graduates on their marketing careers.

If you need a laugh, he is also the author of Ad Asylum, a fictional send-up of all that we in the advertising world hold dear. Its subject matter – yes, you guessed it – a big client review.

Dan graduated cum laude from Colgate University and has an MBA in Marketing from the University of Chicago.

He’s a past chair of the PMA Interactive Council, Mobile Marketing Association and former member of the 4A’s New Business Committee.
